THE GENESEE VALLEY NURSES ASSOCIATION
DISTRICT #2

Article I - TITLE & FUNCTION

Section 1.
  1. The name of this Association shall be Genesee Valley Nurses Association, District II, New York State Nurses Association, Inc. and is also the 2nd District of the New York State Nurses Association, which shall comprise the counties of Allegany, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, Wayne and Yates.
  2. Hereinafter Association shall refer to Genesee Valley Nurses Association, District II, New York State Nurses Association, Inc.
Section 2.
The purpose of this Association shall be to foster high standards of nursing practice, and promote the professional and educational advancement of nurses.

Section 3.
The functions of this Association shall be to:
  1. Promote, through appropriate means, standards of nursing practice, nursing education, nursing research, and nursing services as defined by the American Nurses Association;
  2. Advocate legislative activities that supports the purpose of the Association;
  3. Represent nurses and nursing to the public;
  4. Promote adherence to ethical standards as stated in the Code for Nurses of the American Nurses Association;
  5. Provide for and promote continuing education in nursing.
